{Inspired by} Water for Elephants: Circus Themed Wedding Inspiration

I don't know about you, but I am really excited to see Water for Elephants.  And it just looks so pretty, I think it inspires a lovely wedding, don't you?  Of course, Reese and Rob make everything pretty.

Don't you love those umbrellas over the dance floor and that big top tent altar!?

And if you like movie-inspired wedding ideas, check out this post for inspiration from the film Bright Star and this post inspired by Alice in Wonderland.  Are there any other films out there you would like to see translated into wedding inspiration?

{Vintage Inspiration} It's in the Details: Doilies

So I know there are some doily lovers out there, but when most of you think of a doily you probably think of your grandmother's house or of a bad homemade valentine.  Well, the vintage wedding trend has breathed new life into the doily, and I for one am really liking the fresh take on them and all of the fun ways to use them.

What do you think of doilies?  Vintage chic or too "grandma's living room"?  If you are a fan, check out this DIY doily table runner post I did here, and this DIY doily valentine post I did here.  If you have a doily DIY project, email it to me and I'll feature it.

It's in the Details: Burlap

So I love burlap.  Truth be told, I wanted to fill my wedding decor with burlap and similarly rustic details, but with the venue we chose it just wasn't a theme that fit.  It would have been like putting a barn on the beach.  On second thought, a barn on a beach could be amazing!  Anyhoo...back to burlap.  It is so rustic & chic, provides great texture, and it is CHEAP!  And there are so many ways you can use it.

{A Lovely Roundup} Mason Jars in Weddings

If you follow this blog, you know I am a big lover of mason jars.  In fact, as I sit in my living room now I can see 6 of them!  So I often like to revist mason jar uses for both weddings and home.  Here is a round-up of some great ways to incorporate mason jars in your wedding:

Beverage holders, candle holders, picture holders, flower holders, (that sort of rhymes!) lanterns, chandeliers, escort cards, drink glasses, even invitations - there are so many uses for mason jars in your wedding.  Stay tuned for ways to use them after your wedding, in your home decor!

{A Lovely Roundup} Unique Escort Card Ideas

Escort cards are what tell your guests where they are to sit at your reception, but they can serve a much bigger purpose.  They can be a great place to tie in your wedding theme, decor, monogram, or color palette.  Gone are the sad little folded escort cards laid out on a plain table.  These escort cards put a more unique spin on seat assignments!

It's in the Details: Chicken Wire

Since we have long ago established that I love all things rustic, vintage, flea-markety (yes, that is a real adjective!), and country chic, I'm always looking for ways to incorporate that type of stuff into wedding and home decor.  Enter, chicken wire...

I love the look of chicken wire - the graphic pattern of it.  I think it could look really cool on a wedding stationery suite for a rustic farm or barn wedding, with little chicken wire touches in the decor.  You could have the flower girl basket and bathroom goodies baskets made out of chicken wire, and maybe the escort cards displayed on a chicken wire board like the one above.  Someone please use it in their wedding and then share the pictures with me!

Inspiration 203: Pomegranate and Plum Rustic Wedding

Continuing with the rustic theme for today I have a sweet board to share with you.  It was inspired by this very rustic shoot on Glamour and Grace.  Pomegranate red really plays nicely with a pretty plum purple and craft paper with a bit of chocolate brown thrown in.

Inspiration 201: It's in the Details

The bridesmaids looks in this board rock!  I love how they each have different color shoes and that their shoes match their accessories.  To play off this amazing look I used the colors from their shoes in all the other details of the board.  The cake in this board is pretty awesome as well, I love all the detail work on it.

Centerpiece thoughts

Every once in awhile, I have woken up recently obsessed with our centerpieces. Or it's flower girl dresses. Or it's finding a dress that fits me. Regardless, an obsession grabs me and I can't shake it. So I've been overthinking our centerpieces. I oscillate between two main thoughts:

1. Flowers
2. Dead things

Flowers:

Using these:

(source)
Pros:
Pretty
Colorful
Can just ask florist to bulk order $100 of burgundy and orange flowers or hypericum berries and some flower
Can get vases from ikea.

Cons:
Somebody has to fill the vases with water and put them on the tables and it's not gonna be me.
This one stressed out my FMIL.

Dead things:

Using these:
(source)

Pros:
Easy! Can set these up WEEKS in advance and just have somebody pull them out of a box and put them on the tables.
The glass vases are less than half the price of the white vases.
I have a friend with a farm family. She might have some extra wheat.

Cons:
Not very colorful (can solve with ribbon or colored dried twiggy things. Or celosia.)
I might want to put small rocks in them. Disaster waiting to happen. Pretty sure they will break.
Have to order wheat. This made me feel overwhelmed, but then I found dried flowers 'r us and was happy. Plus they have extra colorful dead things.
Can't find vases in stock at local ikea.

Surely one of you will say "why don't you just combine the two and have awesome wheat and flowers in vases?" I was thinking about that, especially when I remembered that celosia is really cool looking, comes in our colors, and is in season in October. But still, which vases? Taller? Shorter? Cheaper? Cuter?

I also am tempted by these nifty vases I saw in the bathroom at Irvine. Not weird at all....

It's got wheat, dried curly twiggy things, and bright green and red grasses in a mason jar with river rocks and tied with raffia. They're a little tall, but we could have fewer of them than the little vases, since they are substantial, and less work appeals to me. I return to the "we are not mason jar rustic canning type people" debate we had months ago, but you know what kind of people we are? Cheap and easy. That's right.
