Designers are coming out with their Spring 2011 collections, and I’ve been noticing certain trends in this season’s wedding dresses. One of my favorites is their use of tulle overlays. Placing a soft layer of tulle over a different fabric creates a softer look and tones down the luster of high-gloss satin and silk. Lots of designers used this fabric treatment this season, which is most pronounced in Christos’ spring 2011 collection.
The tulle overlay amps up the romance factor of this ballgown wedding dress, making the skirt even softer and dreamier-looking.
The extra fabric adds a carefree vibe to this A-line dress.
Tulle overlays also provide volume to column silhouettes.
The tulle overlay trend was also spotted in Angel Sanchez’s spring 2011 collection. What would have been a rather predictable dress now becomes interesting with the addition of this fabric.
The severe trumpet silhouette of this dress is toned down by the sheer fabric.
Stay tuned for more spring 2011 runway features!
